Cap Ferret is a seaside resort known for oyster harvesting. On a headland dotted with pine trees, Cap Ferret is a chic residential area with swimming and surfing beaches like Plage de l’Horizon.
Biscarosse is one of the more popular seaside resorts on the Atlantic coast. Plenty of surfing and a good choice of restaurants.
Arcachon is a seaside resort town and has four districts named after the seasons. The summer quarter is home to shopping! South of Arcachon you have beaches like Plage du Moulleau which are close to restaurants and parking.
These beautiful gardens are about 2 hours away and are best seen at dusk when candles line the main paths.
Sarlat Le Canada
Follow the Dordogne river to this beautiful old town with some terrific restaurants and plenty of atmosphere a little over two hours away.
Stroll around the picturesque houses, admire the stunning views, visit the Chateau de Gageac overlooking the Dordogne or go canoeing on the river.
Dune du Pilat
The Dune of Pilat is the tallest sand dune in Europe giving a magical view of the ocean. It is located in La Teste-de-Buch in the Arcachon Bay area.
Camino de Santiago
Two steps of the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage can be found close to Gensac: one is in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, the other is Pineuilh. The trail is called the Voie de Vézelay.
